Programming a proximity fob is a cousin of immobilizer programming, with an extra layer because the fob also handles keyless entry and its own rolling code. In practice:
- Adding a fob when you have a working one is the straightforward case — a locksmith connects a diagnostic programmer to the car’s OBD-II port and registers the new fob into the smart-entry system, usually with your existing fob present to authorize it.
