Why Not Just Buy a New Key?
For a plain house key, a duplicate is cheap either way. Where saving the pieces really pays off is anything with a code or electronics. A car key that snapped does not automatically mean a dealer-priced replacement fob — if the remote still works, we transfer it to a new blade. A cabinet or mailbox key with a stamped code can be recut without ordering a factory replacement.
